When I have some free time I usually go to the gym. There’s a fab gym on board, you know. There are also two pools but crew members are not allowed to swim in there, so I just lie on a sunbed to get a bit of a tan. Sometimes I get up early in the morning and I go jogging around the deck. Many a times, after the evening shift some of the crew get together and chat, sing or dance. We’re having a great time; sometimes you’ve got the feeling the party is non stop.

It’s humbling and good to deflate the ego to stop in a restroom after arriving at my destination and see what looks like a huge drowned rat with blue eyes staring at me. No wonder my Tourism online fellow passengers on SkyTrain look then look away…quickly. God forbid crazy wants to converse! I am finding it funny. As a double Virgo I have always been kind of rigorous about my appearance. Not here. Not now.
But one in four American workers get no paid holidays or vacation time, a 2007 study from the Center for Economic and Policy Research showed. The average worker gets 14 paid days off but works three of those days, an Expedia survey found. That survey found Europeans also give up a few vacation days but have more to squander: 26 in Great Britain, 33 in Italy and 37 in France.
And Me? My goal is a day of variety and activity while we’re at sea so I don’t pass it reading a book. I can do that any day of my life at home. I’m using the ship’s list of programs to plan for today’s “At Sea” activities to stick with my goal to ‘play’ throughout the day: sunning before 10 when the burning rays strike, bingo at 11:15 so I can laugh and hiss when the numbers are called, take a salsa lesson and sample the chef’s fare…. All before 2 p.m.
